The Institute of Imaginal Development

“The Institute of Imaginal Development” is a long-term vision for a school dedicated to the creative development of adults.

While contemporary education naturally places increasing emphasis on academic, scientific, and vocational disciplines as we grow older, the Institute seeks to restore imagination, creativity, symbolic thinking, and meaningful play as lifelong practices. Rather than viewing creativity as something left behind in childhood, it recognises the imaginal as an essential human capacity that continues to shape how we understand ourselves, others, and the world.

Grounded in “The Philosophy of Re-enchantment” and developed through the “Inner World Illumination” (IWI) method, the Institute will offer a semester-based learning experience inspired by the structure of higher education. Students will be able to study full-time or part-time through a curriculum that integrates art, symbolism, mythology, psychology, ecology, ritual, and reflective practice.

More than an art school, “The Institute of Imaginal Development” is an evolving vision for a place where adults can cultivate imagination as a lifelong practice through creative inquiry, research, making, and community.
