Hello, my names Natalie-Jane.

I grew up in England in a home shaped by stories. Winters were spent by the fire listening to my grandmother, a tea-leaf reader, and to accounts of her mother, a clairvoyant and medium. Symbolism, imagination, and unseen patterns were part of my everyday world long before I had language for them.

At eleven, I was given my first Tarot deck. It became a visual doorway; a catalyst for image-making, reflection on art, and curiosity. That moment began a lifelong engagement with symbolism and storytelling, which for the past twenty years has shaped my professional life through astrology and tarot, and now finds new form through art.

In my late forties, I’ve made a deliberate shift. I’ve returned to study, undertaking a Bachelor of Fine Art, to focus fully on visual practice. This body of work marks a transition for me; from interpreting symbols for others to exploring them through my own hands, materials, and images. Painting, drawing, collage, and digital processes allow me to work with myth, nature, psychology, and memory through a contemporary lens.

My work draws on ancient histories, Jungian thought, folklore, and the natural world, but it is grounded in the present; in learning, experimentation, and the discipline of making. Narrative remains central. Each piece is an attempt to translate inner experience into form, colour, and rhythm.

Alongside my studies, I have a keen interest in art history; through a particular focus on the historical relationship between art and artists with astrology and magic. I have previously lectured at SARS and Astro Gold, on artists such as Picasso and Frida Kahlo, examining how birth chart symbolism, creative planetary cycles, and historical context shaped their art practice and played a role in the creation of particular artworks.

This website is both a portfolio and a record of change; a reflection of me choosing an unconventional path, again, at a stage of life when many are expected to settle. I share this work in the hope that it encourages others to trust their creative instincts, to begin again if needed, and to follow what continues to call them forward.

Welcome to this chapter of my journey.
